Love a sherry cask dram, but never tasted the sherry behind it? This Whisky Abbey Experience brings the two together, giving you a chance to explore the flavours that connect Spanish sherry with Tasmanian single malt.
Join Fiona Coutts, Head Distiller at Hellyers Road, and Beth Bicknell, Spanish Wine Scholar, for an interactive tasting of four Hellyers Road sherry cask whiskies alongside the four sherries previously matured in those casks.
Together, they’ll guide you through both sides of the story:

- Four corresponding Spanish Sherries
You’ll taste each whisky alongside its corresponding sherry, looking for connections in aroma, flavour and texture. Which characteristics carry through into the whisky? What changes along the way? And how much of what you love in a sherry cask dram begins with the wine itself?
Fiona will share the distiller’s perspective on working with these casks, while Beth brings the sherries into focus, exploring their individual character and the traditions behind them. There’ll be plenty of room for questions, conversation and sharing what you find in the glass.
From Jerez to Tasmania, this experience follows the flavours beyond the familiar sherry cask label – offering a deeper appreciation of the wine, the wood and the whisky they help create.
