Ikawa Distillery – Whisky from the Southern Alps
At 1,200 metres above sea level, deep within Japan’s Southern Alps, Ikawa is Japan’s highest-altitude whisky distillery – a place where the surrounding mountains, forests and wildlife are closely connected to the whisky it produces.
Hosted by Natsumi Fujimaki from Ikawa Distillery, this masterclass will explore that story from new make spirit through to the distillery’s evolving Flora and Fauna releases. Flora represents the plants of the Southern Alps and Ikawa’s non-peated style, while Fauna draws inspiration from the region’s wildlife and explores its approach to peated whisky.
Tasting the 2025 and 2026 releases side by side offers a fascinating look at Ikawa’s development, culminating in the opportunity to be among the first to taste the unreleased Flora 2026.
The tasting will feature:
- Ikawa New Make Spirit
- Dessin Series Fauna 2025
- Dessin Series Flora 2025
- Dessin Series Fauna 2026
- Dessin Series Flora 2026 – Unreleased
You must have an Abbey ticket for the day of the Masterclass to attend.
