Sullivans Cove Distillery From Spirit to Cask: Tasting Twenty Years of Transformation
Presented by the Ally Bhana
What happens to Sullivans Cove spirit over twenty years in American oak?
Whisky is usually encountered at the end of maturation. This masterclass offers a chance to taste what happens along the way.
Across five glasses, the tasting moves from new make spirit through developing cask sample and mature American Oak whisky, culminating in a 20 Year Old single malt. Together, they offer a side-by-side view of how Sullivans Cove spirit develops in American oak: what the cask brings, what time changes, and how the character of the spirit evolves over decades.
The tasting will be hosted by Ally Bhana alongside Sullivans Cove Production Manager Kirsten Laurie. Originally from Islay, Kirsten began her whisky career with Lagavulin and Caol Ila before swapping one small island for another, moving to Tasmania and joining Sullivans Cove more than nine years ago. Having worked across distilling and production before becoming Production Manager in 2019, Kirsten will take guests inside the production decisions and cask management behind each pour.
The Tasting will feature:
- New Make Spirit – Fran
- American Oak Cask Sample
- American Oak Refill
- American Oak ex-Bourbon
- 20 Year Old American Oak Refill
You must have an Abbey ticket for the day of the Masterclass to attend.
