Australian Whisky & Cheese
Presented by Kristy Lark, Louis Duckett, Dan Wooley & Leigh Atwood
Join us for a deliciously unique masterclass that pairs the best of Australian whisky with innovative artisan cheese. The team behind Whisky Abbey’s newest releases will join you to share their stories, process, and flavour vision—alongside Long Paddock Cheese, Castlemaine’s award-winning fromagerie, makers of hand-crafted cheeses that fuse French traditions with Australian terroir.
Long Paddock Cheese is based at The Mill on Dja Dja Wurrung Country in Central Victoria. Led by cheesemaker Ivan Larcher and artisan entrepreneur Alison Lansley, they craft small-batch cheeses from certified-organic cow’s milk using French-inspired methods—each named after native flora and geology. Their Driftwood washed-rind and Bluestone natural-rind blue have garnered national acclaim, winning the 2024 ‘From the Dairy’ category at the Harvey Norman delicious. Produce Awards.
In this session, you’ll have the rare opportunity to taste whisky alongside cheese, learning to balance creamy, tangy, or pungent textures with diverse flavour profiles. Our experts will guide pairings highlighting complementary and contrasting notes—enhancing both whisky and cheese through thoughtful tasting.
